WordPress 3.3 isn’t that far away when you think about it, but really there’s still lots to do before it’s ready for release. A new addition, Admin Pointers, was committed within the past few days. Not long after the team over at Theme.fm decided to experiment and see just what could be done with this yet-to-be-released feature.
Awesome. Very excited about integrating these into my themes.
It would be interesting if someone did a study to see if Admin Pointers decrease the number of tickets asking beginner questions for theme/plugin support providers…well, maybe I should do a study
I’m sure pointers will help clear up first time questions when they’re used. It will be interesting to see if they are used effectively or not.
Only time will tell, but I’d like to think they would!
It looks like the dashboard’s header has been redesigned. Does anyone know how the hanging help tab works? Does it dropdown when you click on it, like how it does in WordPress 3.2.
It’s currently pretty similar to the way it has worked in the past, yes. I’m not 100% sure how it will end up behaving, but once 3.3 hits beta 1 we’ll get a video up rounding out the new visual features for you.
There are plans to change the layout of the help tab ultimately giving it a better User Experience. But in short, it’s going to pretty much work the same, just better (if they stick with the idea running currently, did I say how much I like ‘em?)
