An Update From Small Potato

The other day when I was checking my e-mail, I found a nice little surprise in my inbox from Tung Do, aka Small Potato, the previous owner of WPDesigner.com. He said he had just got back from Thailand, which was a fun and an eye opening experience.

He also mentioned he was disappointed with how WPDesigner turned out, and although the Themes Club is Pawel’s responsibility, if WPDesigner remains inactive and Pawel does nothing with the site until January 2009, he’ll personally refund the current paying members (only to the customers in his PayPal records). So if you’re worried about your $5, fear not.

What do you guys think is going to happen? Do you think Pawel will come back from the grave and bring WPDesigner back to life?

Someone Please Save WPDesigner

Someone Please Save WPDesigner

When Small Potato gave up his baby (wpdesigner.com) to a man who goes by the name of Pawel Ciszewski, it was a sad day. I, like many others, decided to give Pawel some needed time to get things squared away and then, jump right in and take over where SP left off. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be happening. It’s been quite awhile now since Pawel’s introductory post with nothing new posted since then. The post has over 200 comments and some of those comments are now appearing as spam.

Near the bottom of the post, someone ended up posting a comment showcasing how one could impersonate Pawel. Since that post, there have been people making it look as though Pawel has announced the closure of the site, theme club prices rising and various other things. I realize this is a bad situation for many of you, especially those who spent $5.00 to get into the club, but from the outside looking in, some of the comments left by the imposter’s were a little humorous. Note that the following comments were made by imposters and not by Pawel himself.

The Almost Perfect Business Model

This is a guest post by Jeff Chandler of Jeffro2pt0.com

During my interview with Small Potato, I realized that this man was very smart. As I dove into the reasoning behind why his theme club was setup in the way that it had been, a number of light bulbs went off in my head. These are just some of the pros and cons I have discovered when looking into the SP theme club.

Welcome Pawel Ciszewski!

Finally! Pawel Ciszewski, the new owner of WPDesigner.com, has introduced himself. In his brief introductory post, Pawel touches on a few questions people have been asking.

Who are you and what are your plans with WPDesigner?

“My names Pawel Ciszewski, the names Polish but I’ve was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and currently reside in Miami Beach, FL.

I’m an online entrepreneur who actively pursues many differenet internet ventures and actively acquire sites that I feel are valuable resources to the Internet and will be profitable long term.”

What are your plans for WPDesigner?

“I will try to keep the blog posts and blog designs as good as they where by SP but that will be a challenge and nobody will replace SP.

Expanding the themes club will be my main objective. I myself won’t be actively posting or building themes, not by expertise and leave that to those who are.”

What do you guys think of Pawel? Has he made a good first impression? Do you think he will really go on to fulfilling Small Potato’s legacy? I hope so!

Oh and don’t be shy. Go introduce yourself to Pawel.

WPDesigner.com Is For Sale

After a great 21 months of Small Potato putting out great WordPress themes, WordPress tutorials, WordPress news, WordPress everything, he’s decided to hang a For Sale sign up on the site.

When I first saw the RSS item in my RSS reader, I immediately thought it was a joke. I sorta panicked actually. I remember Small Potato saying in my interview with him, that he couldn’t imagine selling WPDesigner.com, his baby, but it seems he’s found a good reason. He’s selling his site because of personal reasons. He’s going to be traveling for the rest of the year and won’t be able to juggle the two.

Now, Small Potato, like any other good Web site seller, isn’t looking for just anyone to buy. He’s looking for someone experienced with WordPress, so they may continue putting out quality WordPress themes, as well as good content. Hopefully SP finds the right person, as it would be shame to see such a wonderful, and personally my favorite, blog about WordPress go down the drain.

Project Hosting Review

Project Hosting, a hosting service provided by WPDesigner.com’s Small Potato, isn’t your ordinary host. Capping off at 120 slots, Project Hosting ensures quality hosting. For $20 a month, you’ll receive 1GB of storage, 40GB of bandwidth, and a ton of other great features. You may think that’s a lot of money for what you’re getting. But with Project H, you’re actually getting what you pay for. With other hosts, there’s no telling what you really get.

As soon as I had saw Project Hosting launched, I thought, wow I’ve gotta try this out! And as most of you know from my last post on Project H, that’s exactly what I did. For the whole month of December, I tested out Project Hosting first hand. Continue reading to find out my experiences.
