WordPress Theme Review: Punk Pink

Punk Pink looks kind of cool, but it struggles when it comes to completeness.

Validation 4/5

The only real noteworthy issue here comes in the form of a warning. Well, seven warnings, in the CSS. It isn’t a huge deal, but technically speaking the code isn’t perfect.

Look & Feel 5/5

I like the rounded corners in the sidebar. Very cool. I also like the way the comments appear up near the title instead of down low.

Theme Completeness 0/5

This is what spells trouble for Punk Pink. I’m just going to write out a list, because that’s really what it is:

  1. No page template.
  2. Attachment.php is pretty much broken. It isn’t styled the same as other pages.
  3. The 404 theme file is broken.
  4. No search box anywhere on the site.

Do I need to say anything else?

Editablity 4/5

Almost everything is great on this end. Code is commented, well formed, and (almost) solid (see Validation above). But there isn’t an “Edit” link on the site for when you’re logged in as admin and just browsing the site. That’s annoying.

I’m not sure what to say about this one. Maybe, don’t make a theme so fast that you don’t check and make sure all the necessary files are included / formatted? Yeah, that sounds about right.
