WPCrunchy relaunches with GPL licensed themes

You know what I hate? Soggy themes. They’re just the worst. Lucky for me WPCrunchy just relaunched their site about a week ago, this time to include a GPL license with all of their themes. Previously WPCrunchy themes were licensed under a Creative Commons license.

According to WPCrunchy owner Akosipau, sales have shown a positive response from his customers to the licensing change.

GPL stands for the GNU General Public License, which is the license that WordPress proper is released under. By WPCandy’s own volition, we only cover folks who release themes and plugins under a GPL license. We’re happy to start covering WPCrunchy news, and hope you will join us in congratulating them on the relaunch in the comments.

    • We cover split GPL and above. But keep in mind there’s no reason you can’t sell GPL software.

Could you describe what you mean in more detail?

  1. I installed one of wpcrunchy’s themes and it does not work. I was directed to a forum that did not work. Stay away from wpcrunchy and their wordpress themes.

By the way, I was able to get another theme from another company up and running in about an hour.

    Interesting and commendable policy.

Curious if you will apply this policy for selecting theme shops in next round of WP Theme madness !
