A post by Matt today over at the WordPress Theme Viewer caught my attention. They will be beginning work on the next version of the Theme Viewer, with some pretty exciting updates. It sounds like there is still much to be hoped-for, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
Some of the things they are hoping to begin to fix:
- The site is too slow.
- Searching and filtering is too clunky.
- The abusing of the rating and the download system.
- Themes embedding links to other sites and ruining their status on Google.
And that’s just a few of them.
Here’s an interesting bit: they’re looking for someone to help them maintain the Theme Viewer, keep up the quality of the site and the community, etc. Needless to say I’m very interested. I’ve brought up my thoughts on Theme Viewer before (as constructively as possible) and I really think it has potential. Anyway, if you don’t mind sending Matt a quick email of encouragement, as far as my helping out at Theme Viewer, I would really appreciate it (m at mullenweg dot com). Of course, if it’s something you would rather inquire about yourself, do that also. Just thought I would ask.
