Jane Wells updated the WordCamp NYC blog to officially announce the dates for the 2010 event today. WordCamp NYC will be held October 16-17 at Bratuch College, in New York City.

There are two other conferences happening the same weekend: BlogWorldExpo in Las Vegas and an open source conference in Pennsylvania. Wells explains this as a positive:

We see this as a positive, because it forces us to look more closely at local WordPress practitioners who have something to share, rather than automatically defaulting to the names that pop up on the WordCamp circuit all the time.

Speaking and volunteer applications will be accepted soon. Those interested should keep an eye on the WordCamp NYC blogTwitter account and the hashtag #wcnyc.

One Response to WordCamp NYC 2010 announced, date set

  1. It’s sad that they chose this date. While I appreciate the promotion of local community, but I really enjoyed attending WCNYC last year. It was as a matter of fact THE LARGEST WordCamp ever. With so much information being shared, I wouldn’t want to miss it, but now I have to because I am already registered to attend Blog World Expo.
