WordCamp Columbus looking for sponsors, speakers, with June approaching

WordCamp Columbus 2011 is in prep mode, getting ready for the event June 17th to 19th. Organizer Angie Meeker has put out a call for sponsors and speakers, so those interested in either should head to their blog and get in touch with her.

WordCamp Columbus is planned as a three day event: the first for beginners and small businesses, the second day the main event, and the third day specifically for non-profits. Tickets for the event are $30, but you can nab one for just $25 if you buy before February 14th. You can follow updates on the event on Twitter at @wordcampcbus.

There aren’t many WordCamps in the midwest, so Columbus definitely sticks out. How many WordCamps have you attended, and do you plan on checking out WordCamp Columbus in June?

  1. Whew! WordCamp Columbus is coming up fast! We combined our Sunday workshop for Non-Profit with our Friday for Beginners and Businesses because we didn’t have a suitable space for the Sunday sessions. And, later tonight, we’ll close registration for that Friday workshop because we’re all filled up!

For other WordCamps considering adding a track of sessions or even an entire day for beginners, I’d totally recommend it. It freed us up to focus on developer issues on Saturday (which will hopefully develop into more involved topics over the next several years), but also gave the beginners a safe place to learn and ask questions without fear that they were holding the other guests back.

We’re still looking for sponsors for our two-day event, too. It’s a great opportunity for hosting companies, in particular, or WordPress consulting businesses that cater to beginners since we do have the workshop on Friday, as well as the typical camp on Saturday.

    Thanks again for the mention!
