James and Alison Barrett are a husband and wife, WordPress designer and developer team based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. They just launched Themejack, a new commercial theme shop with two themes under their belt and a free theme framework called Bolts.
The team is also running a bit of a giveaway to celebrate their launch, though not the kind of giveaway you might expect. They have pledged to donate $10,000 to charity once they have sold 1,000 of their themes. The Barretts have preselected three non-profits: Child’s Play, The WordPress Foundation, and The Humane Society. The final distribution of the $10,000 will depend on votes from their theme customers.
If you don’t do anything else, at least visit their site and refresh a few times to see their rotating site tagline. Gotta get me one of those.
With Themejack’s launch I’m faced with a difficult truth: there aren’t nearly enough couples running WordPress businesses right now. We now have the Barretts and the Rennicks, but is that it? How do we convince more WordPress professionals to bring their significant others into this industry?
