WordCamp Kansas City 2011 has been announced for June 11th and 12th. The event will be held at Johnson County Community College, and will be the first WordCamp to take place in Kansas City.
The organizers have put out the call for speakers on their blog.ย For non-speakers, tickets will be $40 in advance, $65 in April, and $70 at the door. Admission is free, however, at the window*. Sponsorships are also available at various levels, from individual sponsorships to a $5,000 platinum level.
You can keep up with the news on their blog as well as on Twitter at @WordPressKC. Are you based out of, or near, Kansas City? If so, will you be attending their first ever WordCamp event?
*I’m just kidding, of course. I don’t suggest sneaking into WordCamps by climbing through windows.
$65/$70 for a WordCamp? the average price is $30-$35 and I seen some $50 but $70 is just on the high side.
“tickets will be $40 in advance”
That $70 is the at-the-door price. Most people buy them in advance.
Got to be kidding me. First time it comes within 100 miles of me, it’s on the day of my wedding . . .
Maybe have the Wedding Afterparty where WordCamp after party is?
Ha, sounds great to me, though probably won’t fly with the lady ๐
I like that idea!
Woo! Maybe I can make it.
I will probably be there ๐
Syed, looking forward to meeting you. Have appreciated lots of your advice on @wpbeginner.
Love all the comments!
Miroslav, we have changed the prices a bit; $50 for General Attendee (even at the door).
Pippin, we will be having a after party on Saturday, June 11th, more details to come. If you can make it ๐
If all of you haven’t checked out the updated site lately, http://www.wckansascity.org, you should. Syed Balkhi will be speaking, as well as Chip Bennett.
Hope to see you all there!
Ah, that would be awesome but don’t think the new wife will be very keen on letting me ๐
