Speakers at Phoenix either hand picked or asked to give an original talk

It isn’t common for fans of WordPress to attend many WordCamps. As far as I can tell, folks tend to stay pretty close to home, if they attend at all. Of course, those hard core WordPress users—a phrase I relish using because of its silliness—attend multiple WordCamps all ver the country. While not a very large group these WordCamp globetrotters—equally silly, but kind of catchy—may run into repeat presentations every now and then.

That won’t be a problem for those attending WordCamp Phoenix this year though, as presenters have been asked not to present a desk or topic they have given before. In fact, organizer Amanda Blum told WPCandy that most speakers were approached directly to speak on a very specific topic. Those speakers who submitted talks and weren’t first approached were typically asked to present on something different than they pitched. Globetrotters, prepare for fresh material.

For those attending this weekend, that means you should be in for a treat. For everyone else, well you are too. We will be updated frequently from WordCamp Phoenix (from the liveblog, for one) and bringing you all the presentations, slides, and insider info to make you feel like you’re here.

Have you run into repeat presentations before? Do you think WordCamps have an issue with originality and freshness from speakers?
