Matt's last two themes available for download

Matt Mullenweg, founding developer of WordPress, announced Saturday at WordCamp Savannah that he would be releasing two themes previously used on his personal site, Ma.tt. The announcement came during a presentation called “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Your Themes” in which Mullenweg proposed that WordPress theme developers open source their old themes for use in the WordPress.org theme directory.

The two themes, available here, are Matala, which was in use beginning in March of 2008, and Mazeld, which was in use in 2005. Both themes are also available in the WordPress.org theme directory. Regarding the future of the new themes, Mullenweg said that their release is just the beginning:

“This is just the first iteration, so expect some updates within the next few months as we iterate on the code and functionality.”
