Conservative radio and television personality Glenn Beck has launched a website built on the WordPress platform. The Blaze covers “news, information and opinion” and is backed by both Beck and a “dedicated team of writers, journalists and video producers.” In a message to its readers, Beck revealed his reasons for launching the site:

“Too many important stories are overlooked. And too many times we see mainstream media outlets distorting facts to fit rigid agendas. Not that you’ve ever heard me complain about the media before. Okay, maybe once or twice.

But there comes a time when you have to stop complaining and do something. And so we decided to hire some actual journalists to launch a new website — The Blaze.”

Matt DeLong of The Washington Post’s political blog 44, Erick Erickson of RedState.com and others have compared the site to a more conservative-leaning Huffington Post. In a radio address explaining The Blaze (video below), Beck said that the site will be an unbiased source that “slams” the right as much as the left in order to report the truth.

Thanks guys! I’m surprised, but glad, you were able to make a post out of this. No matter someone’s politics, I think the fact that the most polarizing person in politics today launched a major site using WordPress is interesting and good for the community.
