Automattic is the name given to the crew behind WordPress.com, Akismet, VaultPress, and PollDaddy, among others. Automattic is also the name attached to a brand new job listing over at 37signals’ job board. They are looking for a new designer to add to their team. The real meat of the posting is as follows:
As a designer at Automattic, you’re responsible for making sure the amazing things our engineers can create are both easy to use and easy on the eyes. Rather than churning out design after design for a multitude of clients, you’ll focus intensely on every aspect of the design of a product — from the way we advertise and market the service to the smallest details of its user interface. You’re designing for the web, yes, but you’re doing so with an old-school dedication to simplicity and clarity.
Those interested in the position should send a resume and work samples to [email protected]. If you’re curious about what being a designer working for Automattic is like, ping Matt Thomas on Twitter, he can fill you in.
