Brian Gardner first teased his followers, before finally previewing something new for Genesis 1.8 — and no, it’s not just a redesign of Agency. Genesis version 1.8 will bring responsiveness to the default theme. In time, Gardner said, they will be revisiting all their available child themes to introduce responsiveness.
Great move by StudioPress! Not just for bringing responsiveness to their own child themes, but for encouraging and providing the know-how for other child theme creators to do the same. There was quite a bit of talk about Genesis at WordCamp Gold Coast this month, as it really lowers the barrier to entry for people to create themes, and now adding responsiveness to the arsenal.
Thanks, Japh!
We’ve had quite a few people requesting responsive themes, and it only makes sense to a) listen to what people want and b) create something that’s going to look great on tablets and phones.
I personally can’t wait to see where developers take this – the StudioPress community always amazes me with their creativeness 🙂
My pleasure 🙂 It absolutely makes sense. Kudos!
