Pippin Williamson of (the appropriately named) Pippin’s Plugins has been working on a new plugin, and has even been so kind as to make a preview video to show what it can really do. His new plugin will give users the ability easily and quickly add/modify columns to post types.

You can watch the preview video, embedded just after the jump.

If you don’t have time to watch the video, here’s the gist of it: it gives the ability to add and modify the columns for posts, pages, and any custom post types using a new menu choice that will appear with each post type. It’s not finished yet, so there’s no saying what else will be added to it or how it will ultimately work.

Pippin plans on releasing it in the next week or so. Do you think, based on what you’ve seen in this preview, that this is something you’ll use?

Pippin is a plugin beast. The guy knows his stuff and does it well. I’m always excited when he drops a new one; looking forward to it.

    1. Pippin says:

Thanks Jason :) I’m really looking forward to getting this one out in the wild. I had a lot of beta testers playing with it this morning.

  2. This is absolutely something I could see myself using. Will there be a way to limit access to the column customizing menu to certain user groups as well?

    1. Pippin says:

I hadn’t planned on that, though it is a good idea. For initial release, the Column Editor pages will be restricted to admins.

Looks great man! And yes “Pippins Plugins” is a great name I wonder who thought of that ;)

  6. I spent the last hour checking out the various posts and videos for ECTP and the Bonus Meta Fields add-on, wonderful functionality, described well and clearly demonstrated, I’ll definitely be following Pippin’s output from now on.

  7. I am following Pippin’s work for quite a while now and he really knows his stuff! :-) He has absolutely great ideas for plugins adressing the needs of developers, webmasters and end users! And he is putting out quality work. Period.

I am curious for this new plugin from him and can really recommend his new Mainentance Mode Pro plugin – simple, powerful and easy to use!

And just to note: I get not paid writing the above – I am just a happy user of his work!

    I love the WordPress community!
