We all work with WordPress professionals every day. Not in the traditional way, of course: we use Twitter, Facebook, and blogs to work virtually with one another. And that works great. But have you ever wondered what someone’s office looked like, the desk where they spend the bulk of their lives working? I’ve wondered.
This week Shayne Sanderson, WordPress consultant and speaker, will be showing us around his own WordPress Workspace.
About Shayne Sanderson
Shayne started working with WordPress in 2006 after years of doing web design, and is now an independent freelancing WordPress consultant.
He speaks about WordPress at WordCamp events around the country and love meeting people and helping them get to know and fall in love with WordPress whenever possible.
Now I’ll hand it off to Shayne, so he can walk us through his office.
The numbers in the above images correlate to this list:

- Brother Laser Network printer
- File Server / Web Content Filter Server
- 4 year old’s artwork
- Trusty iPhone
- Custom built PC
- Awesome desk
- MacBook Pro 13”
- Can’t see it, but there is a gun case down there (I do live in Texas!)
1. Acer 22” widescreen monitors
These monitors are awesome. Around $150 each – and I could never work on one monitor again.
2. Logitech speakers
These speakers are awesome. They were like $50 and have two speakers and a subwoofer (not seen in pic).
3. Brother Laser Network printer
Best $99 I’ve spent I think. I love this thing.
4. File Server / Web Content Filter Server
My file server which houses a ridiculous amount of music, movies, tv shows, cartoons and appllications. If the house were to catch on fire, this is #1 on the list to grab – after the wife and kiddos of course! The other machine is a Web Content Filter server. If you have kids this is something I would recommend as it works so much better than any software I’ve found. The downside – it needs its own machine to run. The upside – it’s awesome! I have this server plugged into a switch coming off of my router and anything connecting through that switch (my kid’s PCs) gets filtered. The software it’s running can be found here: http://www.untangle.com/
5. 4 year old’s artwork
I have a four year old running around so I get all of the free decorations I can stand!
6. Trusty iPhone
iPhone – no explanation needed, right?
7. Custom build PC
My main machine. This is custom built with a tri-core AMD, 8GB of RAM and 2TB of hard drive space. This is #2 on my “fire list”.
8. Awesome desk
This desk is awesome. It’s two pieces that form an L shape and weighs about as much as my car, but it’s great. I found it at Office Depot as they were discontinuing carrying this particular brand of products and bought off of the display floor.
9. MacBook Pro 13”
This is a new 13″ MacBook Pro. I have to start my sticker collection all over again, but it’s well worth it. I just upgraded to a 750GB hard drive and 8GB of RAM…it flies!
10. Can’t see it, but there is a gun case down there (I do live in Texas!)
It’s TX. That explains enough, right? We like guns.
