Interview with Chris Coyier of CSS-Tricks and Digging into WordPress

I had the chance recently to sit down for a few minutes with Chris Coyier, of and Digging into WordPress fame. We spoke about his experience co-authoring a book with Jeff Starr, how WordPress has effected his experience online, and what he is working on right now.

Thanks to Chris for his time, and for giving (what I think) is a solid interview showing how WordPress can help you be an entrepreneur online.

The full interview is posted after the jump.

  1. Nice Interview, I’ve always been a fan of Chris Coyier since I read css-tricks. From his blog I learn how to build a website based on WordPress CMS and sent me to a real world web project.

  2. Great interview. This is good way to get to know people in the community.

Chris, thanks for the great work on the Digging in WordPress book and Ryan, thanks for all the work you’ve done on WP Candy. It really is the best site right now for WordPress news.

  3. Maybe the best advice I had heard for new webdesigners/developers: “download a free (WP) theme and hack it!”, and certainly you’ll learn.

Thanks for such a great interview!

  4. Great interview, thanks guys.

I got out of school with some pretty decent knowledge of HTML, CSS and a bit of PHP. Unfortunately, I had no clue about content management systems so I had to learn on my own. First one was Joomla! and I did in fact just install it and hack at a free template. Second CMS was WordPress after learning about it on CSS-Tricks. Thanks Chris for the great podcasts on building with WordPress. Been a fan of your work ever since. Bought your book, read your blogs and default to WordPress for all of my sites.

I’ve just recently discovered WPCandy and became an instant fan. I love that I can just come here everyday and there’s tons of new updates.

    Thanks again.

  5. lol I got a degree in Multimedia Design, also… except there were not other web developers around at graduation… mostly filled with people that couldn’t get into the school’s film program and wanted an easy degree!

  6. Nice and honest interview.
Just bought PDF (DigWp-Book), it think the book is great and that I want to buy it in print (Coz’ it’s just great)
Chris: You’ve said that you are not “as involved in WP” as you used to. We’ll digg-in we are looking forward to book updates.
    Good work. Regards form Croatia.
