The Sweet Plugin: Featured Image Column

Today brings the return of The Sweet Plugin, which is easily our most popular show at WPCandy. For those of you new to the show, The Sweet Plugin is a daily show where we examine an awesome WordPress plugin and give it a dry run.

This latest episode brings us Featured Image Column, which you can hear about just past the jump. The video is embedded at the top of this post’s page, with more about the plugin below.

Featured Image Column

Featured Image Column is a plugin that will add a column to the edit posts screen of your WordPress Dashboard. Technically it will add a column to any custom post types you have, but the post screen is the most common.

One tip: if you do use this one, you might also want to try out Regenerate Thumbnails to create all of the properly sized images.

Video recorded with version 0.1.2 of Featured Image Column, running WordPress 3.2.1.

About the plugin author

Austin Passy developed this plugin. He is also a photographer and an organizer of WordCamp LA. You can also follow him on Twitter.

Is your plugin worthy?

  1. Thanks for the shout out! But as of version 0.1.2, you don’t need to generate new thumbnails or custom image size, because I am using a function that grabs the chosen featured image then resizes it on the fly.

  2. Great plugin to fill a gap I only discovered I had after reading this 🙂
Installed and can see the column, ran Regenerate Thumbnails, but still no thumbnails. Tried different browsers.
Any advice on other caches I can try?
