WordPress 3.3 was released just 24 hours ago, which means it’s due for an episode of our new show First Taste. Brian and I sat down with WordPress 3.3, tested everything out, shared our thoughts, and oh yeah—we recorded all of that too.
The video is embedded at the top of this post’s page.
If you’re looking to dig into WordPress 3.3 a bit more, check out our post series that we’re updating often.
What are you initial thoughts on WordPress 3.3?

Yes, any non-numeric at the start of the custom permalink string works fine.
The potential performance penalty has been reduced to one extra (highly optimized and fast) SQL query for all cases that would have caused the problem previously.
I thought so, but wasn’t 100% in the video. Thanks for clarifying.
It is still possible to break the thing though, if you make a URL a couple hundred levels deep. I figured that was edge-case.
Great video guys
Thanks Conor. I think we’re starting to get the hang of these First Taste videos. They’re quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of the site.
Excellent video. You guys crack me up.
WP onward and upward!!
Thanks, glad you liked it.
