WordPress 2.5 RC1 Release - It Will Change Our Lives

Ok so maybe it won’t change our lives, but it just might change the way we use our WordPress powered Web sites.

Yesterday was supposed to be the release date of WordPress 2.5. But I went to sleep without any news of WordPress 2.5 being released*. I woke up this morning and guess what I found? Yep. The WordPress 2.5 Release Candidate 1. Although they didn’t actually release the full version, I’m glad they did release at least something.

A customizable dashboard, multi-file upload, built-in galleries, one-click plugin upgrades, tag management, built-in Gravatars, full text feeds, and faster load times sound interesting? Then WordPress 2.5 might be the release for you,” says Matt Mullenweg in his 2.5 Sneak Peak post on the WordPress development blog.

We Love WP Redesigned

We Love WP is a niche gallery specifically showcasing WordPress powered sites. We Love WP has been around for quite a while now and was even sold earlier this year in January. We Love WP has also been recently redesigned again, but this time by famous Henry Jones. I must say, I do like the new design and I think it suits the gallery well.

I only have one request to the owners of We Love WP, please spell WordPress correctly. Thanks for fixing the spelling!

WPDesigner.com Is For Sale

After a great 21 months of Small Potato putting out great WordPress themes, WordPress tutorials, WordPress news, WordPress everything, he’s decided to hang a For Sale sign up on the site.

When I first saw the RSS item in my RSS reader, I immediately thought it was a joke. I sorta panicked actually. I remember Small Potato saying in my interview with him, that he couldn’t imagine selling WPDesigner.com, his baby, but it seems he’s found a good reason. He’s selling his site because of personal reasons. He’s going to be traveling for the rest of the year and won’t be able to juggle the two.

Now, Small Potato, like any other good Web site seller, isn’t looking for just anyone to buy. He’s looking for someone experienced with WordPress, so they may continue putting out quality WordPress themes, as well as good content. Hopefully SP finds the right person, as it would be shame to see such a wonderful, and personally my favorite, blog about WordPress go down the drain.

WordPress 2.5 Delayed

So yesterday was supposed to be the release date for highly anticipated WordPress 2.5. If you’re a geek like me you woke up, checked your RSS feeds for any news on the release, managed to get to a computer/phone during school to check for more updates, and then got home and checked for more updates via RSS, Twitter, and friends. If you’re also like me (and everyone else for that matter), you were let down. Disappointed. Sad. You might’ve even caught a tear running down the side of your cheek. WordPress 2.5 was no where to be found.

Anyways, according to the WordPress Trac, the WordPress 2.5 release date has been pushed to March 17th 2008. It seems development is still undergo and it just isn’t ready for release yet. Looks like we’ll be waiting another week. Until then my WordPress buddies!

WPCandy v1 WordPress Theme

As the proud owner and creator of WPCandy, I am pleased to present you my very first public WordPress theme. I’m not very creative with names, so I’ll just be releasing the theme as WPCandy v1, since after all, it was the WPCandy’s first theme. If you’re a long time visitor/reader of WPCandy, you’ll probably know which theme I’m referring to. Let’s find out more about this theme, shall we?

WordPress 2.3.3 Vulnerabilities?

Verne Ho, the owner of Creative Briefing, has e-mailed me about having some problems with his blog resulting in errors for his visitors and users. He states in the e-mail that he did some investigating and found out it might be something wrong with WordPress 2.3.3. “Upon investigation, I discovered something that might suggest a vulnerability in WordPress 2.3.3. I haven’t been able to find much information on the issue so I decided to document my own findings.” he states in the e-mail.

Has anyone else been having problems like Verne? I haven’t experienced anything yet and I’m hoping I won’t have since WordPress 2.5 is scheduled for release within the next few days.

If you have been having problems like Verne, he’s posted an article on his blog for a temporary fix to solve this. If you’re interested, check it out here.

Finding WordPress Help

If you haven’t already, in some point in your WordPress-coding/designing life, you’re going to come across a WordPress bug or something you just don’t know how to fix or get working. So what do you do? If you’re like me, you’ll first ask your coding buddies, then hit up Google to see what you can find, then maybe head over to the WordPress Codex, if all else fails.
